No, Global Student is a free education consultancy service that receives remuneration from the education providers it promotes. You will pay the standard course fees or discounted price when available, with no extra charges.
Do I need a visa?
Visa requirements vary depending on where you come from and Global Student is happy to advise you of these. All students enrolled for more than 3 months require a student visa. If applying for the student visa it is important to allow enough time to collect the documents required and for the visa process. Embassies take up to 3 months to issue student visas.
Will my NZ qualifications be internationally recognized?
New Zealand Universities are internationally recognized and so are the qualifications gained in New Zealand.
Where do international students come from?
International students come mostly from Asia, Europe, the Middle East and South America.
How do I pay my fees?
You may pay either the university / institute directly or Global Student. Global Student will send you an invoice and fees must be paid well in advance when applying for a student visa and to confirm your enrolment. You may pay by bank transfer or by bank cheque. Some schools accept credit card payment.
When should I pay my fees?
By paying your fees, you confirm your enrolment. If you are applying for a student visa you will need a fees receipt so in this case it is best to pay your fees before submitting your visa application. Otherwise, you are expected to pay your fees at least 4 weeks in advance of the start of the course. It may be possible to pay your fees closer to the start of the course if you enrol late, however if you choose to stay in a home stay, the earlier you pay your fees the sooner the school can start organising a home stay family for you. It is to your advantage to enrol and pay your fees in advance to have the best chance of staying with a really great home stay family.
What are the refund policies for English courses?
Refund policies vary from school to school. In general you can expect that once you have paid for your course, if you decide not to study at a school, you can withdraw from a program prior to starting and within the first week of course. In this case the school will refund your fees paid minus the non refundable enrolment fee and home stay placement fees (approx NZ$400) and minus 25-50% of tuition paid, depending on the schools policy and length of course. Full refunds are usually only given if for some reason you are not granted a student visa.
